Cardiff Vineyard Church

How to get involved

Becoming a member of Cardiff Vineyard is simply becoming involved with us. As in any church, there will be those who wish to be somewhat less involved and we are happy for that to be the case. We want to be a church where anyone can come, feel welcomed and accepted and find their way in at their own pace. Having said that, we strongly encourage mature Christians to become members as soon as possible, once they have decided that this is their church.

Membership is involvement

If you wish to become a member there are five things we ask you to do:

Firstly, attend main meetings

Secondly, join a small group

Thirdly, find somewhere to serve

There is so much going on in the life of the church with opportunities to serve in main meetings, in small groups, at various events, and taking part in outreach ministries and projects.

We want to be a bunch of activists, and as the church develops we will be able to achieve a great deal if we all get stuck in, using the gifts we have and serving where help is needed.

Current ministries include: Set-up; Welcome Team; Refreshments; Information Desk; Media team; Sound team; Worship leading in small groups. There are also ministries which take place during the week which care for the poor, bless our community and minister on the streets.

If you’d like to be involved, say once or twice a month, talk to someone serving in that area, or sign up at the information desk on Sundays and someone in that team will contact you.

Fourthly, give a portion of your income regularly

The Bible clearly teaches the principle of giving, and money is just one demonstration of commitment to the work and ministry of the church to which we belong. We want to be a generous people, providing the church with the resources to do things well, and to demonstrate God’s love outside this church in what we give away.

Under Old Testament law, 10% of a person’s gross income was to be given as a ‘tithe’. Now under grace, we believe that we are free from the law, and are encouraged to use the 10% as a useful guideline or starting point for our giving to the local church, with other ‘offerings’ beyond that. As with any area of involvement, this is entirely up to the individual and for “each [person], what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7).

For more information on tax efficient giving, see the ‘giving financially to the church’ form on the information desk.

Fifthly, if you are moving from another church it is very important to us that you go to your leader there and ask them to give you their blessing.
